The American Council of the Blind (ACB) traces its roots back to 1961, although several of its state affiliates and local chapters have origins dating as far back as the 1880s. Upholding a belief in the equitable treatment of all blind persons at any stage of their adjustment to vision challenges, ACB values each individual's unique talents, capabilities, and achievements.
